Schrödinger’s Room explores uncertainty, perception, and the emotional potential of space. Inspired by quantum superposition, it invites participants to imagine architecture that can be experienced and interpreted in more than one way.
Schrödinger’s Room is an international conceptual architecture competition inviting architects, designers, and creatives to design a space capable of generating different perceptions, meanings, and experiences.
Inspired by the quantum principle of superposition, the competition explores uncertainty, perception, and the emotional potential of space. It asks participants to translate the idea of multiple simultaneous conditions into architecture: a space that can be perceived differently depending on viewpoint, movement, light, material, sound, atmosphere, and human presence.
The “Room” should not necessarily be understood as a conventional room. It may be an environment, an open or defined space, or a real or imaginary architectural condition.
There are no predefined dimensions, functions, or typologies. What matters is the project’s ability to establish a relationship between space and perception, generating more than one possible experience.
Do not simply design a room.
Design a space that can be experienced and interpreted in more than one way.
